However, once I loaded a level and attempt to show the overlay or when an achievement is unlocked, the Epic overlay's rendering becomes weird and renders using the graphics associated with the game and thus looks like a spritesheet.

WebTo prevent this, at least while the overlay is still new, it's better to enable it on a per-title basis, on titles where it's been tested to work. Long term, once widespread testing by both devs and the community has happened, then allowing the system to automatically use the overlay (unless a game disables it) will probably be the standard.
